A Wellington family with five grown children purchased a beach front section to design and build a retreat for their current and future generations
The client brief was for a calm home that epitomises vernacular elements of historic New Zealand surf clubs. We achieved this by incorporating a second story pop-up that functions as a solitary space with a balcony looking out to the ocean, Kapiti Island and sunsets. Downstairs the open plan living, provides functionality for daily living and the larger family reunions.
